An Electronic-based Simulator for Intramuscular Injection in Newborns

Injection is an essential skill for nurses. In nurse education, simulators assist learning of nursing students. There are various types practicing intramuscular injections in neonates. However, cost, time, and ability to provide formative feedback learners remain issues many education. Intramuscular injection a newborn significantly different from other ages simulator this purpose lacking.Methods: This pilot study aims present the design development electronic as instructional tool student newborns’ examine its effectiveness.Results: An electronic-based newborn’s was designed developed. The contains three parts: 1) manikin with area that made soft silicone; 2) box electrical circuit, 3) kit. By using semi-structured interview technique, we show developed helpful due assessment.Conclusion: proposed prototype injection. based on user comments suggestions, weight simulator, safety, pattern giving needed be improved future studies.
